Guest Prep Guide

Before appearing on the podcast, we'd like to offer a few tips to get yourself ready. Watch this great video from Yann ilunga to get yourself prepared:

Here's the checklist:

  1. Put the date and time in your calendar. Look out for an appointment from Going Up Pod in your inbox.
  2. Ensure connection with the host using interview software tools (we use Zoom for calls).
  3. Test the sound quality of your environment. It should be a quiet space with minimal background noise or echo. A walk-in closet can help to dampen these sounds. We recommend using wired headphones and mic for your interview, or a separate USB microphone if you have one. Bluetooth headsets like Bose, Apple Airpods, and other conference-style headsets do not offer the same high quality sound as a trusted pair of wired headphones.
  4. Prepare for your discussion, ask for the questions in advance.
  5. Listen to previous episodes of the podcast to understand the format, style, and cadence.
  6. Write down notes with stories and examples from your career to discuss during the interview.
  7. Tease your appearance on social media to generate excitement and increase listens to your upcoming episode.
  8. Arrive early. Because it may take a few minutes to set up your audio and prepare for the interview, allow extra time.
